1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how AMEL EDUCATION, LLC handles personal information in connection with the learning programs, the website and the schoolroom office operated by the company. The practice was built by the developer Amel Edu together with the founding team, and the same commitment to careful record keeping that shapes our lesson sheets also shapes the way we treat information about families, learners and visitors.

We wrote this document to be read without a legal dictionary nearby. Every section explains what we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what you can do about it. If anything remains unclear after you read the whole page, please write to us and we will answer in plain language.

The company name used throughout this policy is AMEL EDUCATION, LLC, and the company address is 536 E 95th St, Chicago - 60619-7451, United States (US). For ease of reading the company is sometimes called we or us in the paragraphs that follow.

2. Who We Are

AMEL EDUCATION, LLC is a computer integrated learning practice based in Chicago. The team prepares lesson sheets, runs study plans, writes family notes, hosts reading circles, carries out progress reviews and holds enrollment sittings. All of these activities take place from, or are coordinated through, the schoolroom office at 536 E 95th St, Chicago - 60619-7451, United States (US).

For the purposes of applicable privacy law, the company is the controller of the personal information described in this policy. That means the company decides what information is collected and how it is used. The company can be reached at the address above, by email at liaison@ameleducation.org and by phone at +14425665265.

3. Scope of This Policy

This policy applies to information collected through the public website, through enrollment paperwork, through the family note desk, through reading circle records and through any other channel that the company operates. It applies to families, guardians, tutors, visitors and any other person who interacts with the practice.

This policy does not apply to websites run by other organizations, even when those websites are mentioned in our materials. Once you follow a link away from our website, the privacy practices of the other organization take over, and we recommend reading their policy before sharing information.

4. Information We Collect

We collect a limited set of information that is necessary to run the programs. The categories below describe the information we may hold. Not every category applies to every family, and we try to keep the volume of information as small as the work allows.

Contact details

Names, email addresses, telephone numbers and postal addresses of guardians and adult learners. We need these details to schedule sittings, send family notes and answer questions.

Learner details

First name, age band, grade level, subject focus and the learning goals that a family chooses to share. We deliberately avoid collecting more about a learner than the planning requires.

Study records

Completed lesson sheets, study plan runs, family notes, reading circle reflections and progress review summaries. These records form the working file that lets us plan accurately and review honestly.

Communication records

Messages that arrive by email, phone, the contact form or in person. We keep a short record of conversations so that families do not have to repeat themselves and so that our own work stays consistent.

Technical information

Basic information that any web server receives, such as the type of browser, the approximate region of a request and the pages that were viewed. We use this information only to keep the website working correctly.

5. How We Collect Information

Most information reaches us directly. You provide contact details when you write to us, complete an enrollment form or call the office. You provide learner details when you explain what your household needs. Study records are created through the normal working of the programs, and communication records are created when we reply.

A small amount of information is generated automatically when you visit the website. Standard server logs and the counting tools described in the section on cookies may record that a page was viewed. We do not build advertising profiles and we do not track visitors across other websites.

6. Why We Use Information

We use information to deliver the learning programs, to prepare lesson sheets and study plans, to write family notes, to schedule reading circle windows, to run progress review rounds and to hold enrollment sittings. We also use information to answer questions, to keep accurate administrative records and to meet our legal obligations.

We may use contact details to send a short update when a program changes or when an enrollment window opens. We do not sell information, and we do not rent contact lists to any third party. If a message addresses a complaint, we use the relevant records to investigate and reply.

Where information is used for a purpose that is not obvious from this policy, we will explain the purpose before we begin. We avoid using learner information for marketing, and we never sell study records.

7. Lawful Bases for Processing

Where the law requires us to identify a lawful basis, we rely on the following grounds. We process information to perform a contract when a family enrolls in a program. We process information with consent when a family agrees to receive updates or when a guardian shares details about a learner. We process information to comply with legal obligations such as tax and record keeping rules.

We also process some information on the basis of legitimate interests. For example, we keep a working record of completed lesson sheets because a coherent review depends on that record, and we keep basic server logs because a website cannot be maintained without them. Where we rely on legitimate interests, we balance those interests against the rights of the people concerned.

8. Privacy for Children

Our programs serve learners of many ages, and some of them are children. Privacy for Children is a subject we treat with particular care. We ask that a parent or guardian provide learner information, arrange enrollment and receive family notes. We do not address marketing messages to children, and we do not invite children to submit personal information through the website.

The schoolroom team limits learner records to what planning requires. Names, age bands, subject focus and completed work are typical; we do not ask for photographs, home addresses belonging to the learner alone, or any other detail that the work does not need. If a guardian asks us to remove learner information, we will do so promptly, subject only to records that the law requires us to keep.

If we learn that information about a child was submitted without guardian involvement, we will delete that information. Guardians who have questions about this section are welcome to call +14425665265 or write to liaison@ameleducation.org.

9. When We Share Information

We share information only in the limited circumstances described here. We share information with the family itself, because the working records belong to the household and are meant to be read. We share information with a school or community program when a guardian asks us to prepare a short report describing completed work. We share information with service providers who help us operate, as explained in the next section.

We may disclose information when the law requires it, when a valid legal request is presented, or when disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of a learner or a member of the public. We may also disclose information as part of a reorganization of the company, in which case the receiving organization will be bound by this policy. We do not sell information and we do not trade it for advertising.

10. Service Providers

Like most small organizations, we rely on outside providers for hosting, email and basic office tools. These providers process information on our behalf and only for the purposes we set. We choose providers that offer reasonable security commitments, and we do not permit them to use our information for their own marketing.

A provider that hosts the website may record basic technical information. A provider that delivers email may handle the content of messages in transit. These activities are part of ordinary operation, and we keep the number of providers small so that the flow of information stays easy to understand.

11. How Long We Keep Information

We keep contact details and study records for as long as a family is active with the practice. After a family leaves, we keep a summary of the enrollment for the period required by tax and accounting rules, which is normally several years. Detailed lesson sheets and reading circle reflections are usually returned to the family or destroyed once the program ends.

Communication records are kept for a shorter period unless they relate to an open question or a legal matter. Basic technical logs are typically rotated within a few weeks. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or remove identifying details so that the remaining record cannot be tied to a person. Families may ask us to delete information sooner, subject to any record we are required to keep.

12. How We Protect Information

We protect information with a combination of physical and administrative measures. Paper records stay in the schoolroom office, and the office is locked when it is not in use. Digital records are kept in accounts that use strong passwords, and access is limited to the people who need it for the work. We review access when a team member leaves.

No method of storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise that a breach will never occur. If an incident affects information we hold, we will investigate promptly, take steps to limit the impact and notify affected people and any relevant authority when the law requires it. Families can help by keeping their own copies of important documents and by telling us if they notice anything unusual.

13. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what information we hold about you, to receive a copy, to correct mistakes, to ask for deletion, to restrict certain uses or to object to a particular use. You may also have the right to receive information in a portable format. We honor these requests in accordance with applicable law.

To make a request, write to liaison@ameleducation.org or send a letter to AMEL EDUCATION, LLC at 536 E 95th St, Chicago - 60619-7451, United States (US). Please describe the request clearly and include enough detail for us to identify the records. We may ask for proof of identity before we release information, especially where a learner is a child. We answer requests within the time allowed by law and explain any reason we cannot fully comply.

You can also choose not to receive updates. Every update message includes a way to opt out, and a short note to the office is enough to stop future messages. Opting out of updates does not affect the essential messages needed to run a program in which a family is enrolled.

14. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The website is built to be simple. It does not use advertising cookies, and it does not place tracking pixels for outside networks. A small number of technical cookies may be set when the site needs to remember a preference or when a hosting provider balances traffic. A counting tool may record anonymous page views so that we know which pages are useful.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking technical cookies may make parts of the website work less smoothly, but it will not prevent you from reading the pages or contacting the office. We do not use cookies to identify individual visitors, and we do not combine cookie data with study records.

15. Email and Phone Communications

When you write to us by email, the message arrives in the company mailbox and is handled by the team member best placed to answer. The contact form on the website prepares a message in your own email application, which means the form itself does not store your text on our servers. Once you send the email, ordinary email rules apply.

When you call the office, the team may make a short note of the conversation so that follow-up work is accurate. Calls are not recorded. We ask that families avoid sending sensitive documents by ordinary email and instead bring them to the schoolroom or use a method we agree in advance.

16. Where Information Is Processed

Our office is in Chicago, and most information is handled there. Some service providers may process information in other regions. When that happens, we choose providers that offer appropriate safeguards and we keep the arrangement within the limits of applicable law.

If you are located outside the United States and choose to contact us, your information will be processed in the United States. We take reasonable steps to protect information wherever it is handled, but the legal protections in the United States may differ from those in your own country.

17. Links to Other Sites

Our website may link to resources that we think are useful, such as a school page or a public reading list. These links are provided as a convenience. We do not control the other sites, and we are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices. We recommend reading the privacy policy of any site before sharing personal information.

A link from our website does not mean that we endorse every statement on the other site. We review links when we add them, and we welcome a note if a link becomes outdated or is no longer appropriate.

18. Changes to This Policy

We update this policy when our practices change or when the law requires it. The date at the top of the page shows when the current version was prepared. If a change is significant, we will place a short notice on the website and, where appropriate, send a brief message to active families.

We encourage families to review this page from time to time. Continuing to use the website or the schoolroom services after an update means that the updated policy applies. If you disagree with a change, you are welcome to contact the office and we will explain how the change affects you.

19. How to Contact Us
