Workshop Description:

For many people, trauma and substance abuse are closely connected, but often, this link goes uncorrelated, with some estimates putting patients with the dual diagnosis of substance abuse and trauma at nearly sixty percent (Najavits, 2002).   This workshop will help participants better address the needs of patients who present with both diagnosed and undiagnosed trauma in their AODA treatment.  This workshop will help professionals identify common patterns between trauma and substance abuse, as well as providing tools to help patients identify/name their symptoms, while also helping patients to explore strengths that have arisen as a result of experiencing adversity.
